Vēstule, ko saņēmu šodien no Krievijas.
Es rakstīju, ka sapratīšu, ja neparakstīs, baidoties no represijām. Vēstule daudz ko pasaka.
I signed the letter, but I want you to understand my thoughts a little better.
Russia is an ordinary country, there is nothing special about it. Even at school, I did not like Dostoevsky and Tolstoy, they attributed to the Russian people some special soul, some special version of development. But there is no special way, Hitler proved it. I watch people in our office. Lately I've been taking a taxi to the clinic and I'm talking to the taxi drivers. Sometimes I walk my dog and I hear people talking in the streets.
On February 25, we discussed the prices of products that our company sells. The deputy director said: "Everything will calm down in two weeks, and then we will discuss the prices". Ок. Yesterday I called the office: at what price do we pay for the paper now? (I'm sick and I'm at home now) They answered me: "we were offered paper at a price that was twice as high as before. We decided to wait for the price to drop". "Why did you say that the price will fall? We don't have our own good paper in our country, we only have Finnish paper. And for the gray paper that we produce, there are no imported bleaches. All this points to an increase in prices" - I said. "But the price of cucumbers has fallen!" - answered me.
As if nothing is happening! It's not anger. This is fear. This is the desire to receive, as before, and at the same price (this is important!) all the former benefits. People don't want to believe that the president can make mistakes. Because then it's a bad president. And how can there be a bad president in Russia with its special historical path?
Other people consider themselves special Russians indeed. I meet those too. I tell them: "this is fascism! You are a fascist!" And they agree. These are the people who love Putin as if he were a god. There are not so many of them, but they are heard most of all.
There are people who suggest: we will not think about politics, then politics will not affect us. The psyche defends itself and cannot accept the truth, because the accepted truth is immediately followed by the question "how to live with this?"
There are still fans of the USSR, but they are generally idiots, I will not talk about them.
My good friend, former prosecutor, now a lawyer, he taught me how to go to rallies correctly. I confess when I saw how the protesters were being detained, I was frightened. It was so inhuman that it inspired fear. If only for this reason, I believe that in Ukraine the Russian army really tortures civilians, marauding, raping and killing.
I'm in an icy, crystal rage right now.
I did not keep Putin's and Co money in the best banks in Europe and America. I didn't do business with them. I did not sell them villas on the Mediterranean coast. I didn't teach their children at the best universities. Did not take them to the resorts. Didn't smile at them in hotels.
I did not open shops and restaurants for them. Didn't make cars or phones.
I didn’t come with a large motley crowd to watch football at the World Cup, I didn’t scream joyfully and drunkenly - ohue-e-ena, babUska, balalaika!
They show me: in Prague, people went to a meeting! Well done, really well done. It's good that in Prague the police don't cut out the doors of anyone at five o'clock in the morning. The apartment is being searched. Mom falls with a heart attack, an old laptop is taken away from her, you lie on the floor face down and with your legs wide apart, your work laptop, smart watch and mobile phone are taken away from you, and an iPad with games and a game console are taken away from children. I can return alive and almost healthy, they may not even condemn me (in fact, they cannot), but things will never be returned. Yes, okay. Now there is nothing to lose, the best condition for the fight.
And I understand that in a difficult situation it is very difficult, but it is very necessary to find someone to blame. I really want to shout in someone's face: it's all you! But I know from personal experience: such a search for the guilty is incredibly sweet, but not very productive.
Personally, I prefer icy, crystalline rage to emotional, heated denunciations.”
